Description
Missatge en Una Ampolla is an exceptional wine that stands out for its uniqueness and quality. Produced by Amós Bañeres, a pharmacist turned winegrower, this wine represents an oenological jewel of the Penedés region, south of Barcelona. The wine is made exclusively from Macabeo grapes, a variety known for its complexity and saline acidity, although it is difficult to grow due to its thin skin and susceptibility to disease.
Winemaking
The elaboration of Missatge en Una Ampolla is a careful, artisanal process. The grapes are harvested at their optimum ripeness, following organic principles and some biodynamic dictates. At the winery, the grapes are destemmed and left to ferment spontaneously in stainless steel tanks, using 5% stems to add complexity to the wine. This fermentation process uses indigenous yeasts and 3% whole grapes. The wine is aged for 6 months in stainless steel tanks with its total lees, without ever moving the wine. It is also bottled by gravity without fining or filtration.
Taste
Missatge en Una Ampolla is characterised as an orange wine, with cloudy tones and a palette of flavours that include notes of overripe apricot, peach skin, toasted hazelnut and a distinctive cellar flavour. On the palate, it is dry, with medium acidity, medium body and alcohol, and soft tannins. Intense flavours of grape must, yeasty notes, tropical fruits such as mango, apple and pear skin combine to create a medium finish and a memorable taste experience.
