The aromatic and floral 2021 Malpuesto showed the freshness of the year. It's heady, aromatic and ripe at 14.8% alcohol. It was also generously oaked; it spent 12 months in brand-new 500-liter French oak barrels of very good quality. This is modern and ripe. Give it some more time in bottle. 7,156 bottles and 25 magnums produced. It was bottled in June 2023.

Description
Malpuesto is an exclusive wine produced by Bodegas Orben, called the boutique winery of the Artevino Group in La Rioja. This wine has been elaborated by a tempranillo variety coming from a low yielding vineyard with vines planted in 1931 and its irregular layout gives origin to the name of this magnificent wine.
Winemaking
The grapes are harvested by hand in 15 kg crates and sorted on sorting tables. Fermentation is carried out in stainless steel tanks and malolactic fermentation in new barrels with manual punching down throughout the process.
Ageing takes place in new fine-grain French oak barrels for 15 months.
Taste
Malpuesto is a red wine with a fruity expression. Its tannins are sweet and well-distributed, giving it a complex and ample character. The finish is persistent, with a marked mineral profile (earthy) and a long spicy aftertaste.
An original wine from a unique vineyard
Malpuesto is only produced when the quality of the grapes allows it to maintain its high quality. In other words, it is a limited production red wine, the king of the house. The attention to detail results in a product of superior quality, with a complex and very pleasant character.
In the gastronomic field, it is the perfect accompaniment for red meats, small game, stews, cured cheeses, lamb stews, lamb and roasts in general.
