Description

The story of Louis Jadot Coteaux Bourguignons Blanc stems from the drive to reinterpret the Burgundian tradition in an accessible, vibrant and contemporary way. Taking advantage of the flexibility of the young Coteaux Bourguignons appellation, created in 2011 to cover the entire arc of Grande Burgundy - from Auxerre to Beaujolais - Louis Jadot decided to make a white wine that would unite two emblematic varietals: the finesse of Chardonnay and the tension of Aligoté. This wine is the fruit of vines planted on varied soils of limestone, marl and granite, under a continental climate marked by hot summers and cool nights. An anecdote that reflects the philosophy of the house: no barrel ageing in order not to compromise the natural freshness of the wine, opting for a clean, direct profile, without artifice.

Winemaking

The grapes are harvested at just the right point of ripeness, seeking a balance between fruit and acidity. Chardonnay and Aligoté are vinified separately in stainless steel tanks, where they ferment at low temperatures to preserve their varietal character. The wine rests briefly on fine lees to gain some texture without losing sharpness. Once blended, Louis Jadot Coteaux Bourguignons Blanc is bottled young, with the aim of offering a fresh, accessible and gastronomic profile, without make-up or oak, letting the fruit and the soil speak.

Taste

Visually, Louis Jadot Coteaux Bourguignons Blanc shows a pale yellow hue with greenish reflections. On the nose, it displays crisp aromas of green apple, fresh pear and lemon zest, accompanied by a faint echo of raw almond and white flowers. On the palate, it is light, agile and refreshing, with a lively acidity that lengthens the length. The Chardonnay adds smoothness and a certain volume, while the Aligoté adds energy, citrus tension and a mineral background reminiscent of wet stone. The finish is clean, slightly saline and with an aftertaste that combines white fruit and fresh herbs. A frank and unpretentious white, ideal for pairing with vegetable cuisine, seafood or Asian dishes. Precise, versatile and deliciously dry.
