Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
Produced with grapes from suppliers, the 2018 Lindes de Remelluri Viñedos de Labastida comes from a cooler and wetter year not without challenge. A blend of Tempranillo, Garnacha and Graciano, it fermented with indigenous yeasts and matured in barrels of different sizes and origins for 13 months. This is more reticent and serious, with a grainy sensation on the palate, beautifully textured. It has more austere tannins. This is probably the finest vintage for this wine so far. 2018 has produced many great wines. 87,200 bottles produced. It was bottled in May 2020.
Lindes de Remelluri is a wine that reflects the effort and hard work of the winegrowers who produce it. It is made from Tempranillo and Garnacha grape varieties, which favours a coupage with floral and expressive nuances.
The vineyards from which the grapes come are located in San Vicente de La Sonsierra and Labastida, two of the most traditional wine-growing areas of La Rioja. Moreover, because the soils in which the vineyards grow are clay-limestone, the tannins tend to develop uniformly, which guarantees a better quality red wine.
The first step in the winemaking process is the harvesting of the grapes, which is carried out by hand until the best Vitis vinifera fruit is selected. The wine is then extracted and undergoes malolactic fermentation in stainless steel barrels before being aged for a year in oak barrels.
One of the most interesting characteristics of this wine is the use of autochthonous yeasts, which guarantee a product of superior quality, undoubtedly its best secret!
On the nose, its aromatic bouquet is perceived as floral and balsamic notes and nuances of red fruits. On the palate, its flavour evokes mineral accents and balanced acidity. Its tannins are round, with great freshness.
The best of La Rioja vineyards
In addition to the particular characteristics of this wine, there is the average age of the vineyards that supply the grapes: approximately 35 to 90 years old. This means that the vines are at a stage where they are capable of producing exceptional fruit, with well-balanced tannins.
Due to its characteristics, it is ideal to accompany stews, baked or stewed poultry or dishes with sweet ingredients, such as apricots or cinnamon.
If you are looking for a wine of superior quality at an affordable price, this wine will undoubtedly surprise you pleasantly. Would you like to try it?
