Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The NV Blanc de Blancs Brut Nature (disgorged in September 2015) offers a mineral-infused Chardonnay bouquet that is followed by a very firm and almost austerely dry palate. Medium-bodied, very fresh and grippy, this Brut Nature should gain complexity, but most of all finesse over the years.

Description
From the southern slopes of Épernay, where limestone and sun exposure define a character all their own, the Laherte family has been cultivating a precise and unadorned vision of Champagne for generations. Aurélien Laherte, the current head of the domaine, has managed to balance respect for tradition with an uncompromising desire to express the origin without compromise. Laherte Frères Blanc de Blancs Brut Nature is born of this philosophy: a wine that seeks to show the pure energy of Chardonnay when the soil is allowed to speak, not the winegrower. The vines, about 35 years old, are worked with ecological practices and minimal intervention. Here, the terroir is not interpreted, it is revealed.
Winemaking
The grapes are harvested by hand when they have reached the right point of ripeness. Traditional, gentle and precise pressing preserves the finesse of the must. The alcoholic fermentation of Laherte Frères Blanc de Blancs Brut Nature takes place in small vats and old barrels, with some light bâtonnage. Fifty percent of the blend comes from reserve wines from previous years, aged in wood on fine lees, providing structure and nuances without detracting from freshness. Malolactic fermentation is only partially carried out to preserve tension without being aggressive. The wine is then aged on the lees in the bottle for a minimum of 24 months, and disgorging is carried out by hand, with no added sugar. A brut nature without make-up.
Taste
The result is a Champagne that speaks softly but with authority. On the nose, Laherte Frères Blanc de Blancs Brut Nature shows notes of green apple, citrus zest, dried ginger and a background of chalk and wet stone. No sweetness, no frills, just purity. On the palate, it is dry, vertical, almost surgical. The acidity is firm but perfectly integrated, accompanied by saline echoes, lemon zest, a whisper of dried mango and a subtle bitterness on the finish reminiscent of grapefruit peel. Laherte Frères Blanc de Blancs Brut Nature is a wine that does not seek to please, but to challenge. A Blanc de Blancs for those who love raw minerality, unfiltered tension and earthy truth in every sip.
