Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
Despite the accumulated drought, the plants behaved extraordinarily well in 2023, and the 2023 Gran Caus Blanco, cropped from different plots that ripen at different times, fermented separately and was blended to transmit this diversity. It's approximately 85% Xarel.lo with 15% Chenin Blanc with a moderate 12.15% alcohol. It has Mediterranean and balsamic aromas and flavors, a fresh palate with clean and pungent flavors of white fruit, flowers and herbs and a dry, chalky and tasty finish. It's an exceptional entry-level white. 30,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in June 2024.

Description
The Gran Caus White wine is an oenological proposal that stands out for its particularity, depth and subtlety. This white wine, which is not aged in oak barrels, is presented with an unequalled freshness that makes it special. The varieties that make up this wine are: 50% Xarel-lo, 30% Chenin Blanc and 20% Chardonnay. Each of these varieties contributes unique characteristics which, when combined, result in an exceptional wine.
Gran Caus White was one of the first great Xarel-los of the Penedès. The inclusion of Chenin Blanc in its composition was an innovation in the traditional coupages of the 1980s, marking a turning point in the region's winemaking history.
Winemaking
The winemaking process begins with gentle crushing, followed by pressing without destemming. The varieties ferment spontaneously separately at a controlled temperature for 30 days in stainless steel and cement tanks. After this process, the wine is aged in the bottle for 1 year, which gives it additional maturity and complexity.
Taste
Gran Caus Blanco has a golden yellow colour with greenish reflections. On the nose, notes of ripe lemon, juicy peach and white flowers can be appreciated. On the palate, it has a creamy texture, accompanied by a firm acidity and a pleasantmineral saline touch. The finish is unctuous, with refreshing citrus notes that invite a second sip.
