Cloudy Bay Sauvignon Blanc comes specifically from the Marlborough region of New Zealand. This white wine stands out for its freshness and vibrant aromatic profile. The main variety of this wine is Sauvignon Blanc.
Winemaking
The fruit from each vineyard is fermented separately before the final blend. Rather than blending to produce more wine, the winemakers carefully select the right grapes (from over 90 lots) for each year's wine. This ensures that the quantity may vary, but never the quality. The wine comes largely from vineyards located in the Rapaura, Renwick and Brancott Valley sub-regions of the Wairau Valley. These areas, with their warm, dry maritime climate and free draining gravelly soils, are ideal for Sauvignon Blanc.
Taste
Cloudy Bay Sauvignon Blanc has a vibrant, oaked nose, with notes of juicy citrus and lime, complemented by subtle notes of white nectarine and passion fruit. The palate is refreshing and captivating, with ripe passion fruit and citrus to the fore. These flavours combine with tropical notes of peach and guava, delicately balanced by saline and mineral notes. It is a wine that can be enjoyed now, but also has an ageing potential of at least 10 years.
