Description
Clos des Grillons Vieux Sage is a masterpiece of winemaker Nicolas Renaud. This wine is a 100% Syrah cuvée, organically grown on red clay soils. Harvesting is done by hand and yields are low, ensuring the best quality of the grapes. Vinification includes an 11-day maceration and a short ageing in used demi-muids barrels, without fining or filtration, and with a minimal dose of sulphites. This biodynamic and natural approach underlines Renaud's commitment to purity and authentic expression of the Rhône terroir.

Clos des Grillons Vieux Sage has an impressive flavour that stands out for its explosive fruit and freshness. On the nose, it displays notes of blackcurrant, violet and mild spices, while on the palate it is digestible and has soft tannins, giving it a silky texture. It also has a minty freshness and floral and fruity aromatics that make it irresistible. We recommend decanting this wine when young to fully appreciate its elegance and ageing potential. Vieux Sage is not only a tribute to Renaud's expertise, but also a pure expression of southern Rhône Syrah.
