Description
Bründlmayer Grüner Veltliner Hauswein is an exquisite representation of the wines produced by Weingut Bründlmayer. It originates from elevated and therefore slightly cooler terraces with light, stony soils. On these sites, the grapes ripen more slowly. The grapes are harvested at a time when the flavour is already present, but the natural sugar and potential alcohol content are still comparatively low, making it the lightest Grüner Veltliner must of the vintage.
The grape variety used is Grüner Veltliner, with a harvest yield of 4,500 kg per hectare. The vine training system is Guyot and the harvest date is in September.
Winemaking
Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks, generating carbon dioxide from the fermentation process. Afterwards, all the racking operations up to early bottling are carried out with the utmost care, so there is residual carbon dioxide when the wine is first released onto the market.
Taste
Bründlmayer Grüner Veltliner Hauswein is an intriguing combination. Although one might expect a light and fresh wine to ease the heat, this wine surprises with a restrained bouquet of green apple, field flowers, green peas and asparagus. The palate is oily, with an overly tropical touch and an interesting salinity. It is savoury, with a lingering aftertaste of melon and perhaps some passion fruit.
