Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The 2022 Monastrell is from a property at 800 meters above sea level. It fermented in small stainless steel tanks with neutral yeasts and matured in French and American oak barrels. This is quite oaky; it's the style of the wine and with notes from the American wood, quite noticeable in the Monastrell, with notes of coconut and vanilla. It's ripe at 15% alcohol, reflecting the warm and dry year, with a pH of 3.63 and 5.4 grams of acidity. It has a full-bodied palate with abundant tannins and a finish dominated by the oak. For fans of the style. 12,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in August 2024.

Description
Bruto is a single varietal red wine made from Monastrell grapes coming from vineyards at an altitude of 800 metres in the Jumilla region. This wine, produced by Bodegas Juan Gil, is a faithful exponent of the red wines of this region.
Winemaking
Bruto is made by vinification in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures and malolactic fermentation in French and American oak barrels. The ageing process lasts 23 months in these same barrels, which gives it a balanced integration between the fruit and the wood. The result is a powerful and structured wine, with an alcohol content of 15.5%.
Taste
In terms of its sensory profile, Bruto has an intense cherry red colour with garnet reflections. On the nose, aromas of ripe black fruits and notes of chocolate and roasted coffee. On the palate, it offers an enveloping and liqueur-like sensation, with a long and well-balanced aftertaste. These characteristics make this wine an excellent choice to accompany grilled meats, honeyed rice dishes and game dishes.
