Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The 2021 Belondrade y Lurton is showing superb, pure, crystalline, clean, pure and expressive, delicate, elegant and subtle. The oak feels perfectly integrated despite being a very young wine. It has notes of white flowers, orange peel, hints of peach and dry hay and is quite varietal, with a faint bitter twist on the finish that, to me, is a textbook descriptor of the Verdejos from yesteryear. It has 13.8% alcohol and a pH of 3.8. 102,023 bottles, 2,533 magnums and some larger formats produced. It was bottled in July 2022.

Description
Belondrade y Lurton is the flagship wine of the Belondrade winery. This wine comes exclusively from the organic Quinta San Diego estate.
Winemaking
The grapes, 100% Verdejo, are harvested by hand from 23 different plots and fermented individually and spontaneously. They are then aged on their lees for 9 to 12 months in French oak barrels, with a final selection and blending before bottling. Average annual production is 100,000 bottles, with formats available including magnum, jeroboam and imperial. This wine is bottled and laid down for at least 5 months before release, and is designed to be consumed over the next 6 to 8 years.
Taste
Belondrade and Lurton has a flavour that stands out for its freshness and elegance. On the nose, it is harmonious and clean, with a remarkable integration of oak. On the palate, it is a balanced wine with restrained maturity. The finish is dry, clean and long, with a chalky texture that highlights its complexity and depth. This wine is an excellent example of how meticulous attention in the vineyard and cellar can produce a high quality, refined wine ready to be enjoyed on a variety of occasions.
Belondrade and Lurton is more than a wine; it is a philosophy that combines respect for tradition and innovation, reflecting Didier Belondrade's dream of creating an exceptional white wine in the land of Don Quixote.
