Description
Barranco Oscuro Rubaiyat is a red wine produced by the Barranco Oscuro winery, located in La Contraviesa, Granada. This wine is produced from Syrah, a variety planted in 1996 in vineyards located between 1280 and 1368 metres above sea level, in schist and clay soils. Cultivation is organic, without certification, and no herbicides, pesticides or synthetic fertilisers are used.
Winemaking
The grapes are harvested by hand, rigorously selecting the bunches. Fermentation is spontaneous in stainless steel tanks, without the addition of yeast or other products. The wine undergoes a four-day maceration and is stored for a year in used 500-litre European oak barrels. Finally, it is lightly filtered before bottling, without fining or the addition of preservatives.
Taste
Barranco Oscuro Rubaiyat is characterised by its medium body and dense cherry colour. On the nose, it has a blackberry aroma with medium levels of acidity and alcohol. On the palate, notes of blackberry, cherry and raspberry combine with a medium finish and well-integrated tannins. This wine stands out for its power and balanced blend, offering a rich and complex sensory experience.
Barranco Oscuro Rubaiyat is an authentic representation of Syrah in a unique environment, where natural vineyard management and careful winemaking are reflected in a distinctive wine full of character.
