Description
Barranco Oscuro Ensayo de Burbujas is a sparkling wine made in the region of La Contraviesa, in Granada, Spain. This wine is produced from the Vigiriega grape variety, grown at an altitude of between 1280 and 1368 metres in poor, stony soils of schist and clay. The viticulture is organic, although it is not certified.
Winemaking
The winemaking process follows a variant of the traditional method, with spontaneous fermentation in stainless steel tanks. Subsequently, it is bottled with unfermented grape must as the only additive for the second fermentation in the bottle. The wine rests for two years on its lees before being disgorged in March, without the addition of dosage.
Taste
Barranco Oscuro Ensayo de Burbujas is characterised by its bright, clean, light golden colour, with a small, persistent bubble. On the nose, it offers aromas of citrus, pears and apples, which bring freshness. On the palate, it is dry, light-bodied and medium acidity. The predominant flavours are of green apples, pear, lemon and other citrus fruits, with a touch of apple acidity. The finish is refreshing and long, leaving an aftertaste of green apples that is balanced and integrated.
Barranco Oscuro Ensayo de Burbujas is an excellent example of the winery's ability to produce high quality sparkling wines, with a unique character that reflects both the Vigiriega grape variety and the specific terroir of La Contraviesa.
