Features

Description

Bérêche Rilly La Montagne 1er Cru comes from the prestigious region of Rilly la Montagne, specifically from the terroir "Les Sablons" in the Montagne de Reims. This wine stands out for its exclusivity, as it is made on an area of only 0.40 ha. The vines, with an average age of 36 years, are located at an altitude of 178 m, with a slope of 22%. The soil in which these vines grow is shallow, with a high presence of limestone and a sandy surface.

Winemaking

The champagne is made entirely from 100% Pinot Noir . Its elaboration is meticulous: after the harvest, the wine undergoes a slow fermentation in oak barrels, followed by ageing on lees. It is then left to rest in the cellar in rhyme for more than 36 months. The sparkling wine is made with a natural cork stopper. The final dosage at bottling is 3 g/L, which gives it an extra brut character.

Taste

Champagne Bérêche Rilly La Montagne 1er Cru has received praise from wine experts around the world. William Kelley of Wine Advocate highlights its notes of pear, apricot, pastry cream and white flowers, describing it as a medium to full-bodied wine with a smooth texture and an acidic, chalky touch. Bettane & Desseauve mention its deep notes of calcaire fumé, followed by candied red fruits, with a freshness in the mouth that overcomes the texture, leaving only an aromatic echo. On the finish, some tannins are perceptible, adding body to the delicious raspberry notes. Antonio Galloni praises its inner perfume and its great appeal, mentioning aromas and flavours such as kirsch, Mirabelle plum, mint, spices and dried rose petals. Finally, Le Point highlights its pear, straw and autumn aromas, with notes of oak and caramel, and an intense, broad and powerful palate.
