Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The paler-than-pale rosé—actually a 'clarete,' as it mixes red and white grapes—2017 Viña Real Rosado is a blend of 15% Tempranillo and 85% Viura. It only had about four hours of maceration and then fermented in stainless steel at a low temperature to keep primary aromas. It's as pallid as a blanc de noirs and could pass as a white. In fact, the nose and texture feel more like a white. This is a residual production, but demand grows, and it's part of the portfolio. It's nicely crafted, fresh and with vibrant acidity and chalkiness that makes you salivate, and dry with little to no tannin. Dry, serious and honest. Ideal with food. 130,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in December 2017.

Description
Viña Real Rosado is produced by the CVNE group, which is made up of the wineries Cune, Contino and Viña Real. This wine comes from the use of a combination of Viura, Tempranillo and Garnacha grape varieties.
The vineyards from which this wine comes from are between 8 and 15 years old and are located in Rioja Alavesa, mainly in El ciego and Laguardia. The soils are fresh, clayey and located in different orientations.
This young and fresh wine is ideal to drink at any time on its own or as an accompaniment to salads, fish and pasta.
Winemaking
The grapes are harvested by hand at the exact moment of ripening in order to obtain a wine with a moderate alcohol content, good fruit expression and balanced acidity. Once the grapes enter the stainless steel tanks and after a few hours of maceration, the grapes are bled by gravity without mechanical pressing, to obtain a must that is fermented for 20-25 days at a controlled temperature of around 16ºC.
In this way, the primary aromas are kept intact. Once alcoholic fermentation is complete, the wine is clarified, filtered and can be bottled.
After a period of resting, the wine is ready to be marketed.
Taste
Viña Real Rosé is an unctuous wine, with a slightly acidic finish and floral aromas in the aftertaste, with balanced fruity notes.
A light and fresh wine
It is a young wine with the traditional freshness that comes from the Viura grape. It retains the personality of the best wines from La Rioja Alavesa. It is distinguished, but above all delicate, highlighting the soft fruity to floral aroma.
