Description
Ridge Lytton Springs is a red wine that comes from the Lytton Springs vineyards, located in the Dry Creek Valley. This wine is composed of 79% Zinfandel, 11% Petit Syrah and 10% Carignan, offering a unique blend that reflects the richness and diversity of this terroir.
Winemaking
The grapes are hand harvested, sustainably farmed and sourced from the estate's own vineyards. Once harvested, the grapes are destemmed and crushed. Fermentation is carried out with indigenous yeasts, followed by a complete malolactic fermentation with natural bacteria. The wine is aged in air-dried American oak barrels. These barrels vary in age from new to five years old. The wine ages thirteen months in barrel, absorbing the subtle notes of the oak and enriching its aromatic and taste profile. Following a philosophy of minimal intervention, the wine is filtered through plates at bottling, guaranteeing its purity and authenticity.
Taste
Ridge Lytton Springs dazzles with intense blackberry and plum aromas, accompanied by notes of aniseed. On the palate, it is full-bodied, featuring dark fruits intertwined with well-structured tannins. The finish is long and reveals layers of black liquorice and dried sage. It is a wine that not only reflects the essence of its varietals and terroir, but also promises to evolve and improve over the years, making it a gem for any wine collector or wine lover.
