Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
I also tasted the just-bottled 2019 Tinto, where the blend changed to 70% Monastrell, 25% Giró and 5% Alicante Bouschet, from an unusual year marked by the torrential rains in September. It was produced in the same way as the 2018; native fermentation with some 20% full clusters and the rest uncrushed grapes, matured in stainless steel for one year. But he has removed the Syrah from the blend, which will be the way to go in future vintages, looking for a more floral profile in the wine. It was a very challenging year, especially for the late-ripening grapes like Monastrell. The grapes were less ripe, and the wine has lower alcohol. This is juicy and fruit-driven with some dusty tannins, more straightforward and simpler than the 2018. 25,000 unoaked bottles were filled in July 2020.
