The young 50/50 blend of Garnacha and Tempranillo from the zone of Alfaro in Rioja is the 2019 La Vendimia. It was scheduled to be bottled after mid-July 2020, after aging in oak vats and barrels for four months to add some complexity while preserving the freshness and primary character of the wine. It has a nose that combines the floral character of the Garnacha and the more serious profile of Tempranillo, with the two being quite integrated. It's juicy and lively, medium to full-bodied, with 14.3% alcohol, reflecting the heat and drought of the year. It has attractive aromas and flavors that are refined and elegant, gravitating toward floral and red fruit notes, and with very fine tannins that give it a silky texture. The mouthfeel is quite soft, with integrated acidity; it doesn't reflect the extreme conditions of the year and comes through as nicely balanced. There will be 337,000 bottles of this vintage.
Palacios Remondo La Vendimia is a red wine produced by Bodegas Palacios Remondo in the D.O.Ca. Rioja with the best selection of the traditional varieties of the area.
The winery is located in the town of Alfaro (La Rioja Baja) and its technical director, Álvaros Palacios, is known for being the creator of the famous L'Ermita wine.
This red wine is an excellent accompaniment to dishes such as rice dishes with meat, sausages, grilled vegetables, grilled red meats, roast chicken, semi-cured cheeses, eggs, various appetizers and grilled pork.
Palacios Remondo La Vendimia is a coupage of equal parts of Tempranillo and Garnacha Tinta grape varieties.
The grapes come from our own vineyards located on the slopes of Mount Yerga, at an altitude of 550 metres above sea level. The soils are clayey and calcareous, and these give unbeatable conditions to the grapes grown there.
The grapes are harvested by hand, destemmed and partially vinified according to the carbonic maceration method in stainless steel tanks. The wine is fermented for 20 days in stainless steel tanks with regular pumping over.
After fermentation, the wine is aged for 5 months in wooden vats and French oak barrels before bottling.
Palacios Remondo La Vendimia is a red wine with sweet tannins chiselled by an excellent acidity, a digestive freshness and a long finish. It is smooth on the palate and most satisfying.
All in all, it is an enormously pleasurable wine and very easy to drink.
