Description
Niepoort Drink Me Nat Cool Dão is a representation of the innovative"cool and funky" Nat Cool concept, initiated by Niepoort in the Vinho Verde wine region. This movement, which started in Vinho Verde, later expanded to Bairrada and the Douro Valley, and is now present in several Portuguese and international wine regions. Nat Cool is not just about producing low-intervention wines, but embodies a movement that unites many different producers with the shared goal of making simple, light and easy-to-drink wines. In 2020, the Nat Cool "family" grew with its foray into the Dão region of Portugal. It is on the slopes of the Serra da Estrela mountain range that Drink Me Nat Cool is created, exploring the region's potential for elegant, fresh and direct wines.
Winemaking
The grape varieties used for Niepoort Drink Me Nat Cool Dão are: Jaen, Tinta Pinheira, Alfrocheiro, Baga and Touriga Nacional . The wine was aged for 6 months in stainless steel tanks.
Taste
Niepoort Drink Me Nat Cool Dão is simple, versatile, elegant and refreshing, reflecting the terroir of the Serra da Estrela hillsides. On the nose, forest fruits such as blackberry and blackcurrant combine with balsamic nuances typical of the Tinta Pinheira grape variety. On the palate, the Baga grape variety reveals its elegant and lively side, as well as its persistent acidity that adds character to the wine.
