Description
Llopart Reserva Brut Nature was born from a story of conviction and courage. In the mid-20th century, when sparkling wines were sweet as a rule, Pere Llopart i Vilarós opted for purity and direct expression of the landscape, inspired by a family bottle from 1887. This is how he gave life to one of the first Brut Nature in Spain, with no added sugars, with the vineyard as the protagonist. Since then, the Can Llopart estate, on the heights of Subirats, has been at the heart of this philosophy: wines that speak of the land, the silence of the forests and the strength of the old vines.
In its 102 hectares of organic cultivation, on terraces and slopes of poor limestone depth, the vines are hard at work. At an altitude of 360 metres, the climate combines the freshness of the mountains with the light of the Mediterranean, giving rise to concentrated and elegant grapes. The coupage of Llopart Reserva Brut Nature is composed of Xarel.lo (45%), which provides structure and character; Macabeo (35%), which adds floral notes and white fruit; and Parellada ( 20%), which adds acidity and freshness.
Winemaking
Harvesting is carried out by hand, with strict selection in the vineyard. The grapes are pressed whole, without crushing or destemming, in order to preserve all their primary expression. The must ferments slowly at a low temperature, and once the final blend is defined, the base wine of Llopart Reserva Brut Nature is bottled for secondary fermentation. The bottles are left to rest for more than 30 months in natural conditions in semi-darkness, refined by the action of the lees. After ageing, the wine is disgorged without the addition of expedition liqueur, which reaffirms the dry, direct and unadulterated character of Llopart Reserva Brut Nature.
Taste
In the glass, Llopart Reserva Brut Nature displays fine, persistent bubbles. Its nose is elegant and restrained: green apple, lemon rind, dried flowers and toasted bread. The palate is slender, with a lively acidity that structures the palate. The profile is mineral, with a slight bitterness that adds depth and a subtle salinity that lengthens the finish. The wine flows with tension and purity, leaving a trail of raw almond, Mediterranean herbs and austere white fruit. An honest sparkling wine, without artifice, that clearly expresses the essence of its origin.
