Description
Fonterenza Brunello di Montalcino is a wine that reflects the passion and dedication of its creators. Produced in the Montalcino region, this wine is made exclusively from the Sangiovese grape variety. The grapes come from the Vigna del Bosco, a vineyard that covers 1.6 hectares and that, year after year, delivers consistent and extraordinary results. The altitude of the vineyard is 450 metres above sea level, and the soil is of a clay loam nature. With a bilateral guyot cultivation system, the plants have an average age of 23 years and a density of 4,000 vines per hectare.
Winemaking
Harvesting is done by hand between the end of September and the week of October. Fermentation is carried out with indigenous yeasts, with maceration lasting between 20 and 30 days in truncated cone-shaped oak vats and cement tanks. In recent years, the manual destemming technique has been adopted and, in part, the "whole cluster" is used. The wine is aged in 5,000-litre oak barrels for the first two years, and then in smaller, older barrels for a further 3 to 4 years.
Taste
Fonterenza Brunello di Montalcino is a wine with a floral and fruity character. Although still young, it presents an aroma with notes of black cherry, plum, violet, leather and tobacco. Subtle aromas of farm can also be perceived, but in a pleasant way. The palate is juicy and vibrant, with fresh acidity and a lingering earthy finish with finely grained tannins.
