The village wine from Manzaneda, from the same vineyards where they crop the white Conasbrancas, the 2022 Lomba dos Ares was bottled later, in December 2023, before I tasted their wines last year, so I tasted it now. They are going to shorten the élevage and bottle it also before the next harvest. It has a deep color and a riper nose, denoting a warmer and riper year, with a lactic touch and some hints of esparto grass. It fermented with indigenous yeasts and full clusters, had 60 days of maceration and spent 11 months in 500-liter barrels and a 3,200-liter oak foudre. It has an expressive and fruit-driven nose with wild berries and herbs and a medium-bodied palate, with moderate alcohol (12.3%) and some dusty tannins. Better with food. 8,500 bottles produced.
