The 2022 Rosende Lousas is the second vintage of the new village wine from Rosende, the only zone in Ribeira Sacra where they have granite soils. The wine is superb, more reductive and austere than the majority of 2022s, closer to the style of the 2021s. This is a rocky 2022, very soil driven, long and textured, sharper, very interesting. They expect to fill some 3,300 bottles in November 2023.

Description
Envínate Lousas Rosende is a wine that encapsulates the essence of the Ribeira Sacra, a region of Galicia, Spain, known for its ancient terroirs and Atlantic influence. This wine is the result of the passionate work of Laura Ramos, Jose Martinez, Roberto Santana and Alfonso Torrente, four friends who met while studying oenology at the Miguel Hernandez University in Alicante. Their philosophy focuses on allowing each plot to express itself fully in the wine, using traditional growing and winemaking methods.
Envínate Lousas Rosende is composed mainly of Mencía (85%), complemented with other varieties such as Garnacha Tintorera, Brancellao, Merenzao and Grao Negro, which make up the remaining 15%. The grapes come from vineyards between 28 and 60 years old in the Rosende area, on light soils of decomposed granite and feldspar crystals, reminiscent of the St. Joseph and Cornas regions in the Northern Rhône.
Elaboration
The grapes were harvested by hand and fermented in whole bunches in an open tank of 4,200L. Maceration lasted approximately 35 days, and then the wine completed fermentation and rested for a year in a 2,000L foudre and some 228L used French oak barrels.
