Description
El Rey del Glam is a young red wine made from the Garnacha Tinta grape variety by the Bodega Alfredo Maestro winery in Peñafiel in Valladolid, under the Castilla y León appellation.
The grapes used for this wine come from 50% from vineyards in Navarredondilla, in the province of Avila and the other 50% from vineyards in Peñafiel closer to Valladolid.
Both are located at an altitude of 1,100 metres and 700-920 metres above sea level, respectively. The vineyards are located on granitic rock, sandy loam, clay and limestone soils.
Winemaking
The grapes are harvested by hand. When the grapes arrive at the winery, they are incubated whole without pressing or destemming. Carbonic maceration begins in stainless steel tanks with indigenous yeasts.
The wine is then racked and undergoes malolactic fermentation in the same tanks. The wine is clarified and stabilised naturally. The wine is aged for 4 months in stainless steel tanks. Before bottling, the wine is racked to remove any impurities or solid residues.
Taste
El Rey del Glam is a young red wine with very marked fruity aromas and mineral and spicy notes. On the palate it has a great flavour, characterised by tannins that give it a long finish in the bottle and a fairly present acidity, making it ideal for cellaring!
