There has been progress since the last time I tasted La Calandria's wines and the 2015 Cientruenos is a good example of it. Produced with grapes from old Garnacha in Cintruénigo, it fermented in stainless steel with indigenous yeasts and matured in 500-liter French oak barrel for three months. There is contained ripeness and nicely integrated oak in the shape of some spices, with some hints of Mediterranean herbs, esparto grass and thyme. The palate revealed a juicy Garnacha, with nice fruit and fine tannins. 6,000 bottles were filled in February 2017.
Between 16ºC and 18ºC
Aged for 5 months in French oak barrels of 500 litres capacity.
