Description
Bründlmayer Riesling Terrassen is a vivid expression of the Kamptal terroir. The Kamptal terraces are characterised by their primary rocky soils (which, on the lower terraces, are covered with loess and silt) and by the climate. The vineyards are located at an altitude of 200-300 metres at the confluence of the Danube Valley and Kamptal. Thanks to the daily warmth, the grapes reach maturity and fullness, while the suction effect of Kamptal during the night brings cool air from the north, preserving the freshness and fruitiness of the wine.
Winemaking
The grape variety used is Riesling, with a harvest yield of 3,500 kg per hectare and a Guyot training system.
Bründlmayer Riesling Terrassen is very expressive even as a young wine and shows an extremely compact structure. The wine is matured with ripe grapes harvested by hand in small crates and gently processed with a pneumatic press. The wine is fermented between 15° and 20° C in stainless steel tanks and then matured in contact with the fine lees until bottling.
Taste
Bründlmayer Riesling Terrassen has a fragrant bouquet of white and yellow flowers with a hint of citrus peel, followed by some spices (aniseed, fennel) and mineral and autolysis tones. On the palate, it starts fresh, balanced by a touch of residual sugar, showing light fruit tones like fresh vineyard peaches. It has a backbone of crisp acidity that highlights spice and minerals. It is elegant, lean, fresh and perfect in its youth for summer terraces, but with potential to mature further and become a textbook Riesling.
