Description
The Algueira Escalada white wine is a unique expression of the viticulture of the Ribeira Sacra region. This white wine is made exclusively from 100% Godello grapes , a variety that gives a distinctive identity to this wine.
Winemaking
The elaboration of Algueira Escalada is a carefully orchestrated process. It begins with a mixture of destemming and foot treading, followed by a brief skin fermentation in tank. The wine is then transferred to old 500-litre oak barrels, where it ferments on the lees with battonage. This process of barrel ageing on lees with battonage is crucial for the development of the wine's character. Finally, the wine matures in stainless steel before bottling.
Taste
Algueira Escalada presents itself in a pale gold colour, and its movement in the glass suggests a full-bodied wine with a dense mouth that envelops the palate. On the nose, the wine evolves from a characteristic terroir to a more complex bouquet, with hints of lactic and orange blossom, mixed with notes of fennel and pastry.
On the palate, Algueira Escalada is characterised by a dense entry, but balanced with good acidity and a remarkable persistence. These qualities make the wine not only pleasing to the palate, but also memorable and distinctive. The combination of its meticulous winemaking and unique flavour profile makes it an exceptional wine, representative of the quality and tradition of Adega Algueira.
