Álvaro Castro Dâo 2016

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The 2016 Tinto, the white label with the big 'Dão,' is a roughly equal blend of Jaen, Touriga Nacional and Alfrocheiro with 10% Tinta Roriz, aged for 16 months in well-used French barriques. It comes in at 13.1% alcohol. As lovely as the Saes Touriga was at a similar price level, this adds better structure, although it lacks the Touriga's aromatic charm and flavors. Differently styled, they both offer a lot of value in wines made to drink young that nonetheless have some distinction, finesse and class. While it may hold well for a decade, drinking it in the short to mid-term is a good idea.
