Description
Itsasmendi nº 7 is a Txakoli from Bizkaia that stands out for its elegance and complexity. This wine has been produced since 2003 with the intention of creating a Txakoli with more body and structure, ideal to accompany the exquisite gastronomy of the Basque Country. Itsasmendi nº 7 is obtained from a careful selection of grapes from nine different plots, with vineyards planted between 1989 and 2011 in limestone and clay soils. The grape variety used includes 42% Hondarrabi zuri zerratia, 38% Hondarrabi zuri and 20% Riesling.
Winemaking
The grapes are harvested by hand and the wine ferments and matures for seven months on its lees in stainless steel tanks, which gives it a remarkable ageing capacity.
Taste
Itsasmendi nº 7 is distinguished by its full, powerful and balanced flavour. On the nose, it has fruity and mineral aromas, with notes of stone fruit, pear, yellow flowers and lime blossom, as well as a balsamic background with hints of eucalyptus and sage. On the palate, it is a fatty wine with a balanced acidity and a remarkable length. Its flavour is enriched with subtle bakery notes, the result of its ageing in the bottle, which give it greater complexity and elegance. This Txakoli is recommended to be served at a temperature between 7 and 10 °C, and goes perfectly with baked fish, seafood and white meats, thanks to its freshness and body.
