Description
Gut Oggau Emmeram wine is not just a drink, it is a story, a personality and a unique sensory experience. Coming from the Oggau family of vineyards, Emmeram presents itself as the son of Mechthild and Bartholdi, and brother of Joshuari and Timotheus. This wine is characterised as the bird of paradise in the Oggau vineyard family, a globetrotter with a fascinating personality who has a phenomenal effect on women. In addition to his history, Emmeram stands out for his good sense of humour and his athletic build. Despite his playful character, Emmeram firmly believes that he is the father of Wiltrude's daughter Theodora.
Gut Oggau Emmeram comes from vines that are 40 years old. It yields 1-2 tons per hectare and is grown on soils composed of limestone and sand. The only variety that makes up this wine is Gewürtztraminer, a grape known for its aromatic intensity.
Winemaking
The vinification method consists of manual harvesting of the grapes, followed by destemming. Fermentation with indigenous yeasts takes place in used 500-litre barrels, where the wine remains for approximately 12 months without batonnage. Finally, it is bottled without fining, filtering or sulphur addition.
Taste
Gut Oggau Emmeram is one of the few wines of the winery to carry a varietal label due to the aromatic intensity of the Gewürztraminer. This dry wine, grown on limestone soils, ripens late, but without the influence of botrytis fungus, resulting in powerful and direct aromas. On the palate, it displays a pronounced aromatic intensity that is simply beautiful. Notes of lemon, gardenia, jasmine, rose, honeysuckle, elderberry, lychee, pear, apricot and lavender, with a hint of mushroom, make this wine an incredible and interesting experience.
