Description

Faiveley Mercurey 1er Cru Le Clos Du Roy La Favorite is a jewel within the vineyards of Burgundy, specifically in Mercurey. Made at Domaine Faiveley, a winery with a rich family history and reputation for its meticulous winemaking approach, this wine is a tribute to the excellence of the terroir. It is made from 100% Pinot Noir, a variety that finds its maximum expression in these lands. The "La Favorite" plot is located in a selected area of the Premier Cru "Le Clos du Roy", with its south and south-west orientation providing ideal sun exposure.

Winemaking

Faiveley Mercurey 1er Cru Le Clos Du Roy La Favorite is made using a manual harvest that selects the best Pinot Noir grapes. The grapes are destemmed and fermented in stainless steel and wood vats, with careful temperature control for a balanced extraction of colour and tannins. Fermentation lasts 15 to 20 days, with pumping over and pigeage to ensure homogeneous contact with the skins.
The wine is aged in oak barrels for 12 to 18 months, with 20%-30% new barrels. During ageing, malolactic fermentation and contact with fine lees are carried out to provide texture and complexity. This artisanal process ensures a balance between the fruity elements and the spicy notes of the oak, creating a structured wine suitable for cellaring.

Taste

Faiveley Mercurey 1er Cru Le Clos Du Roy La Favorite is a sensory journey. The nose displays intense aromas of black fruits, such as black cherry and cassis, accompanied by a touch of spice and hints of subtly toasted oak. On the palate, there is an enveloping texture and well-integrated tannins, providing medium body with lively acidity. The palette of flavours follows the aromatic line, highlighting fruits such as raspberry and blueberry, with hints of spice such as nutmeg and leather notes that add an earthy dimension. This wine is characterised by its balance between aromatic richness and structure, ending in a persistent taste that invites you to continue exploring glass after glass.
This Premier Cru becomes an experience that stands out for both its elegance and its robust character, ideal to accompany dishes such as roast duck or baked lamb, highlighting the complexity and depth of each sip.
