Description
Disznókö Tokaji Eszencia wine is produced in the Tokaj region. It is made from 100% Furmint grapes, an indigenous variety noted for its ability to develop a noble rot, known as botrytis. This particularity allows the grapes to reach an exceptional level of ripeness and concentration.
Winemaking
At the end of each day's harvest, the aszú grapes, selected one by one, are stored in small stainless steel tanks until the end of October. Eszencia is obtained from the must that flows freely under the weight of these grapes. These rich nectars are then transferred into 50-litre demijohns. The demijohns are kept in a cool underground cellar, with no added yeasts or sulphur. Only a micro fermentation occurs on the surface of the nectar, resulting in 1% alcohol. Maturation refines its original intense fruity aromas. Finally the different batches are blended in a tank, selecting only the best batches for Eszencia.
Taste
Disznókö Tokaji Eszencia is a deep gold-coloured wine that dazzles with its fine, elegant nose. Its aromas evoke toffee, green tea, aromatic herbs, wildflower honey and candied fruits. On the palate, it is surprisingly rich, with notes of caramel, honey and toffee, and an incredibly creamy and enveloping texture. The aftertaste is reminiscent of herbal tea, caramel, aged cognac and café au lait flavours.
