Description

Château Musar Blanc wine comes from the mountains of Lebanon, being a blend of ancient indigenous white varieties Obaideh and Merwah. These varieties are believed to be related to Chasselas, Chardonnay and Semillon grapes. The Obaideh vineyards are located in the foothills of the Anti-Lebanon mountains, on stony, calcareous soils, while the Merwah vineyards are on the seaward side of Mount Lebanon, on calcareous gravels. These vineyards have a very low yield, between 10 and 20 hl per hectare.

Winemaking

Fermentation takes place in French oak barrels from the forests of Nevers for a period of 9 months. It is then bottled and released on the market seven years later.

Taste

This wine has a golden yellow colour in its youth, with subtle notes of oak and a creamy texture. Despite its richness, it is dry and intensely citrusy, with hints of honey. Its unique style has been described as similar to a dry Sauternes wine or a mature white wine from the Graves appellation, Bordeaux. Concentrated and complex, Château Musar Blanc shows its best after several hours of breathing. It is recommended to be served at a temperature of around 15°C. Ideal with pâtés (especially foie gras), rillettes and seafood dishes.
