Description

Among the folds of northern Burgundy, in the peaceful commune of Saint-Bris, the Château de Béru revives an ancient tradition with a bold look to the future. This historic estate, in the hands of the de Béru family for more than four centuries, was rescued by Athénaïs de Béru, who decided to return to the countryside to bring the family vineyard back to life. Her commitment is clear: viticulture without synthetic chemistry, guided by nature and the pure expression of the terroir.

Château de Béru Bourgogne Chardonnay comes from vines planted between 210 and 250 metres above sea level, on east, south and southwest facing slopes. Here in the Yonne, the clay-limestone soils of the Kimmeridgien give the wine a firm and precise minerality. The cool climate of northern Burgundy brings tension, haze and a slow ripening that benefits the acidity and finesse of the aromatic profile.

Winemaking

The grapes are harvested by hand, with whole bunches pressed in long, gentle cycles, without destemming. Fermentation of Château de Béru Bourgogne Chardonnay is spontaneous, with no additives or selected yeasts. Everything is done with as little intervention as possible.

Château de Béru Bourgogne Chardonnay is aged for 18 months in stainless steel tanks, avoiding wood in order to preserve the character of the vineyard intact. This choice allows for a sharper, more direct and honest profile, where each layer of the wine reflects its unfiltered origin.

Taste

The nose of Château de Béru Bourgogne Chardonnay is discreet but profound: wet stone, lemon zest, white flower. As it opens up, notes of green apple, raw almond and a chalky undertone underpin it all. It does not seek to seduce with sweetness, but with authenticity.

On the palate, Château de Béru Bourgogne Chardonnay is straight, with a lively acidity that runs across the palate like a line drawn on stone. There is no fat, no ornamentation. It is a wine of tension and verticality, with a saline, long and slightly bitter finish. A raw and elegant expression, designed for those who appreciate minerality, freshness and origin above all else.

A white wine without make-up, where the earth speaks and time listens.
