Description
Bonnardot Santenay 1er Cru Clos Rousseau is an aged red wine made from the Pinot Noir grape variety (100%) by the Domaine Bonnardot winery in the Burgundy region of France.
Santenay is an appellation further south of the Côte de Beaune. The winery has two plots in the centre of the 1er Cru "Clos Rousseau" vineyard. These plots are enclosed by stone walls.
This vineyard has an average age of 45 years and is planted on stony clay-limestone soils with south-east exposure.
Winemaking
The grapes are harvested by hand at optimum ripeness and on arrival at the winery, they are sorted on the table and then slowly and delicately pressed in whole bunches, with a long maceration.
Alcoholic fermentation is carried out with indigenous yeasts in oak vats, without sulphur or other additives. Ageing takes place for 14 months in oak barrels. Bonnardot Santenay 1er Cru Clos Rousseau is then bottled without filtration and after natural sedimentation.
Taste
Bonnardot Santenay 1er Cru Clos Rousseau is a powerful, intense and concentrated red wine with fruity aromas. The tannins are bold and give a broad structure to the wine. The finish is elegant and delicate, with some fruit expression and lingering on the palate.
