Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
Beginning with a fantastic nose of cured venison, black pepper, roasted herbs and wilted lavender, the 2018 Syrah Armada Vineyard offers smoked jerky and cold fireplace elements. Medium to full-bodied, the wine displays impeccable balance with a velvety mid-palate and succulent tannins that need an additional year in bottle to come around. The wine concludes with a long, lingering finish with persistent flavors of sweet tobacco, roasted blackberries and cigar box. The wine rested for just under two years in approximately 15% new French oak. Give it a try; it's delicious as always. Almost 8,000 bottles were produced.

Description
Cayuse Armada Syrah is a wine for collectors. Produced in the Walla Walla Valley by Cayuse Vineyards, this organic red wine is made from 100% Syrah. The vineyard from which this wine originates covers 2.5 hectares and was planted in 2001. Since its inception, it has been farmed organically, without the use of chemicals, and has been worked biodynamically since 2002.
Winemaking
This domaine is the first in the valley to apply Rudolph Steiner's principles, where soil, plants and animals coexist in a closed and balanced ecosystem. After careful manual selection of the grapes, the vinification process begins. The grapes are fermented with indigenous yeasts at a controlled temperature and the wine is then aged for 21 months in French oak barrels (20% new). The result is a sincere wine, impregnated with minerality and with its own identity.
Taste
Cayuse Armada Syrah is a concentrated red wine. On the nose, it is complex and very expressive, with aromas of blackberry, black tea, black pepper, lilac and dried lavender. On the palate, it is seductive, elegant and medium-bodied with round tannins. It has saline notes and flavours of dried strawberries, chocolate and walnut. The finish is long and delicious.
