Description
Aalto PS is a wine of exceptional quality, made from 100% Tinto Fino (Tempranillo), from very old vines, aged between 60 and 90 years. These vines are located in unique vineyards in La Horra and La Aguilera, in the region of Ribera del Duero, Spain.
Winemaking
The grapes are harvested by hand, using small boxes of 15 kilos to guarantee a meticulous selection of each cluster. This technique allows the best bunches to be carefully selected, thus guaranteeing the supreme quality of the grapes. After harvesting, the grapes are transported in small 15-kilo crates for careful inspection, ensuring that only the best grapes are used. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks, concrete or oak barrels, where the temperature is rigorously controlled to preserve the characteristic aromas and flavours of the grapes. The crucial step in the production of Aalto PS is its ageing for 21 months in new French oak barrels, a process that enriches the wine with complexity, structure and subtle notes of wood and vanilla, perfectly complementing the fruity character of Tempranillo. Finally, the wine is bottled and further matured, allowing its bouquet to fully develop and its tannins to soften, culminating in a wine that not only reflects the quality of its grapes and the unique terroir of Ribera del Duero, but also the experience and passion of Aalto Bodegas y Viñedos in its creation.
Taste
Aalto PS stands out for its intense purple colour and aromatic complexity where black fruits and spicy touches predominate, bringing elegance to the nose. On the palate, its freshness and soft, silky tannins are perceived, giving it great intensity and volume. This wine is known for its structure and length, and although it is dense like the winery's basic wine, the PS is more intense and benefits from patience, either aged in the cellar or decanted before consumption.
