Description
Trediberri Barolo Rocche dell'Annunziata DOCG is a wine jewel that represents the heart of the Trediberri winery. This wine is made from the Nebbiolo variety, coming from La Morra, specifically from the Rocche dell'Annunziata plot. The grapes from this region come from plots planted in 1955, 1961 and 1999. The composition of the soil in Rocche dell'Annunziata varies, predominantly sandy in the lower areas and becoming silty loam as one ascends. These terroir characteristics are responsible for the distinctive aromas of the wines of this region, especially the floral and dried rose aromas.
Winemaking
Alcoholic fermentation takes place in cement and lasts approximately 12-14 days. This is followed by a post-fermentation maceration of about 12-15 days, resulting in a skin-wine contact of about 4 weeks. After this phase, malolactic fermentation takes place in wood and the wine is aged for about 20 months in 2,500 and 5,200 litre Garbellotto foudres. After this period in wood, the wine is transferred to concrete, steel or fibreglass for a few months before bottling, usually between July and August of the year prior to market release.
