Description
Oremus Tokaji Late Harvest is a late harvest sweet wine and, of course, the gateway to the magical world of sweet Tokaj treasures.
This Late Harvest wine is a blend of different varieties. Furmint is the protagonist, providing acidity that balances the sweetness of the wine. The Hárslevelű gives it sweetness and a silky texture, while the Kövérszőlő and Zéta enhance the fruity, honeyed character and vigour of the wine. The golden Sárgamuskotály completes the nose of the wine, giving it a distinctive touch.
Winemaking
The production of this wine requires bunches where at least half of the berries are Aszú noble berries, i.e. affected by noble rot to a significant degree. After destemming, the grapes are macerated for 4 to 12 hours, then pressed, and the must ferments slowly in stainless steel tanks, so slowly that the cellars are often covered with ice and snow at the end of the fermentation process. Fermentation stops naturally when it reaches 12% alcohol. The wine then rests for half a year in small Hungarian wooden barrels in underground cellars and is refined for a further year in the bottle.
Taste
Oremus Tokaji Late Harvest stands out for its floral tones, combined with citrus and honeyed nuances. The nose is elegant and fine, and the palate is rich and lingering. The fine acidity and sweet fruit character are perfectly balanced.
