Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The 2013 Alba Sobre Tabla is a dry white produced with Palomino grapes within the Sherry region, unfortified and probably with some time under flor during the six months the wine spent in Manzanilla barrels. It only has 11.2% alcohol and has a cloudy golden color. The wine corresponds to what is locally known as a 'mosto' a just-fermented white before it's fortified for a short stage in bota. It has a nose of chalk, apple and some notes of esparto grass. The palate is fresh, vertical, with some acidity to be integrated. It is quite straightforward and easy to drink. This is an uncomplicated wine with a slightly bitter finish that would do well with food. This wine could take an interesting direction for the future. There are two small lots which are virtually indistinguishable (just a chalk mark underneath the bottle). My note here corresponds to Lot II. If they want two bottlings they should make it more clear.
Between 8ºC and 10ºC
Aged for 14 months in 500 liter oak barrels.
