Description
In the heart of the Val do Salnés, where the sea mist intertwines with the vineyards and the granite emerges as a millenary memory, Nanclares and Prieto produce an Albariño that is far from complacency and close to the truth. Nanclares and Prieto Tempus Vivendi is born as an expression of the time lived -not only the time of ageing, but the time of the place, of the climate, of the winemaker. When Alberto Nanclares, an economist by training, decided to leave everything to tend a small vineyard facing the sea, many thought it was a whim. But the rigour with which he worked the land, and the subsequent incorporation of Silvia Prieto, with her refined and sensitive eye, consolidated a unique project in Rías Baixas. Today, their wines do not seek to please everyone, but to move those who know how to listen.
Tempus Vivendi is made with 100% Albariño, from 16 small plots in Sanxenxo, next to the Atlantic. The vines, from 25 to 45 years old, are grown on vines on decomposed granite and clay soils, without herbicides or systemic treatments. The strong oceanic influence moderates the temperatures and accentuates the freshness, while the granite imprints an unmistakable minerality.
Winemaking
Nanclares Prieto Tempus Vivendi is harvested by hand in small boxes. The bunches are pressed whole, without destemming, in a gentle pneumatic press. The must ferments with indigenous yeasts in stainless steel tanks, without additives. The wine then rests for 7 months on its fine lees, with weekly batonnage for the first three months, which adds depth and texture without losing definition. There is no oak ageing or unnecessary interventions: just time doing its job.
Taste
On the nose, Nanclares Prieto Tempus Vivendi is sober but expressive: lime, pink grapefruit, white flowers and an iodised background reminiscent of wet rock and saltpetre. On the palate, it is sharp, upright and electric, with tense acidity that propels it towards a long, vibrant finish. The texture is creamy but restrained, without fat or excess. As it evolves in the glass, notes of fresh herbs, citrus zest and a slight bitter finish emerge to balance it out. A wine for those who value purity, precision and a direct connection with the Galician Atlantic landscape.
