Buy Wine from La Borderie
La Borderie, located in the Champagne region, is the fruit of Odile and Jean-Louis Normand's love and passion for wine. Both from wine-growing families in Neuville-sur-Seine and Bar-sur-Seine respectively, they brought together their destinies and expertise to create this winery. They devoted themselves to cultivating their common passion, gathering beautiful plots of land in the Côte des Bar, the southernmost sector of Champagne. Thus was born La Borderie, a winery that during the harvest season benefits from grapes from distinctive regions, carefully tended as if they were gardens.
Vineyards
La Borderie's vineyards, with an average age of 30 years, are home to four grape varieties: Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Pinot Meunier and Pinot Blanc. This diversity of vines, together with the variety of rootstocks and the geological diversity and exposure of the plots, allows for numerous trials to compose cuvées inspired by the terroir. The winery focuses on preserving the aromatic integrity of the harvested fruit by rapidly pressing the grapes. Currently, 1.5 hectares of the property are reserved for the production of Domaine La Borderie wines, with a production of around ten thousand bottles per year. The resulting wines are true gastronomic wines, reflecting meticulous work on the plots throughout the seasons.
Philosophy
La Borderie 's philosophy focuses on respect for biodiversity and sustainability. Certified as "High Environmental Value" and "Sustainable Viticulture in Champagne", the winery strives to integrate every intervention made in the vineyard with the environment. They have abandoned the use of herbicides and insecticides, reducing inputs to the minimum necessary and using products of natural origin and biocontrol. In addition, they have implemented practices to promote biodiversity, such as maintaining controlled pastures, planting hedges and fruit trees, and installing nesting boxes for birds and bats. This philosophy is reflected in their "micro-terroir" approach, seeking to know the grapes in the smallest details of their expression in order to conceive blends that produce the best wines, true gastronomic wines appreciated by enlightened connoisseurs.
