Description
Nanclares Prieto Dandelión grew out of a shared curiosity for the Atlantic land and the economy. Alberto, a former economist, arrived in Cambados in 1997 with the dream of surrendering to the rhythm of the ocean... and the vine welcomed him. Together with Silvia, who joined in 2015 with a technical vision in organic viticulture, he consolidated a philosophy: to pay homage to the terroir without masks or oenological make-up. Thus, Nanclares y Prieto Dandelión is born from a selection of 10-13 inland plots in the heart of Val do Salnés, in the Rías Baixas DO (in the municipalities of Cambados, Ribadumia, Meaño, Meis and Barro), planted with Albariño vines between 25 and 45 years old. The soils are of decomposed granite and poor sands, and the vines are trained on pergolas, the traditional Galician method that facilitates aeration and prevents fungal diseases in this humid Atlantic climate. The vineyard faces the sea and is worked organically, always seeking a natural balance.
Winemaking
The winemaking ritual for Nanclares Prieto Dandelión begins with a careful, manual harvest. The bunches, without destemming, are gently pressed in a pneumatic press to obtain a clean must that ferments spontaneously in stainless steel tanks with indigenous yeasts. Subsequently, the wine is left for five to seven months on its fine lees, with weekly batônnage during the first months, thus gaining unctuousness and depth. The wine is bottled without fining or stabilisation, with a light mechanical filtration and a minimum dose of sulphur dioxide. A naked Albariño, a true reflection of the landscape from which it comes.
Taste
On the nose, Nanclares Prieto Dandelión displays a vibrant, maritime profile: aromas of lime, pink grapefruit, tangerine and lemon zest, accompanied by crisp green apple, white pear and subtle notes of honeydew melon and nectarine. In the background, a marked saline minerality evokes wet rocks, ocean mist and sea foam. On the palate, the attack is direct and refreshing, with a sharp acidity that structures the palate. The texture, enriched by the lees, adds volume without detracting from the tension. Citrus notes, hints of fresh herbs and a long, saline and slightly spicy finish. A wine of pure lines, austere and expressive, that does not seek to seduce with exuberance, but with authenticity. An uncompromising Atlantic Albariño, perfect for those who are looking for energy, minerality and character in their glass.
