Buy Wine from Cims de Porrera
The natural and the traditional combine with the desire for innovation and development, but preserving the essence. This is how Cims de Porrera was born, a winery that in just 26 years has achieved its initial purpose, and well it has: to create quality wines and offer local winegrowers a fair price for their harvests.
If you like wines with body and character, made using traditional methods and respecting the environment, then read on and join us to discover this prestigious winery.
Learn about its history
It all began one lucky day in 1996, when singer, composer and wine lover Lluís Llach decided to team up with the Pérez Ovejero family, who by then had already been in the wine-growing business for several generations. Their motivation was none other than to produce high quality wines in the village cooperative, while offering a reasonable price to the winegrowers.
Over the years, the members of the company have changed: Lluís Llach retired to devote himself to other musical projects, and in his place the Peralada Group entered the business. The latter is and has been the distributor of the wines for years.
Today, the business is purely family-run and is entirely in the hands of the Pérez family. José Luís, who founded the project together with Llach, has left the reins of the business to his son Adrià and his cousin, Marc.
Location
As you would expect, Cims de Porrera is based in the municipality of Porrera, located in the province of Tarragona, Catalonia. This region has been cultivating crops since medieval times, although its agricultural cooperative has been in operation since 1932.
The social project of Cims de Porrera is intimately linked to the Cooperative's vine growers, some 20 at present, without this limiting or dominating the decisions that the producers have over their harvest. Thus, while the vineyards are controlled and advised by Adrià Pérez, they are managed and vinified by their owners.
A clear example of this is Cariñenas y Garnachas, one of their most emblematic products. Made with the two variants of the area, from vineyards over 70 years old, it is characterised by its concentration and particularity. All this is possible thanks to the work of the twenty or so winegrowers who cultivate the 54 hectares of the municipality.
Meet the architects of Cims de Porrera
As this is such an ambitious project, it is necessary to mention two groups in particular. On the one hand, we have the Pérez family, who have been in charge of wine production for several generations. Nowadays, however, the representatives of the family business are Adrià and Marc Pérez, the former, son of José Luís Pérez, the founder of the project, and the latter, his cousin.
As if this were not enough, we cannot fail to mention the winegrowers of the Porrera Cooperative, as without their hard work such a high quality production would not be possible.
For the Pérez family, Cims de Porrera is much more than a company. Itis also their raison d'être and their purpose as a family. Cheers to that!
Get to know its varieties
By using Carignan and Grenache vines, it is not surprising that the wines of Cims de Porrera are so concentrated and tannin-rich. Among the most highly recommended of all the varieties offered by the winery, we have the Clàssic 6 years old, the Vi de Vila 2/3 years old and the Garnatxa 4 years old, in addition to all the options we recommended above.
Don't think twice and treat yourself. We know that none of their products will leave you indifferent.
