Description
To speak of Joseph Drouhin is to enter into the philosophy of one of Burgundy's most emblematic houses. Joseph Drouhin Laforêt Bourgogne Pinot Noir represents the classic elegance of Pinot Noir, crafted with precision and deep respect for the terroir. For generations, the Drouhin family has championed sustainable viticulture, convinced that balance with the land is the key to expressing authenticity and purity.
The grapes come from different plots in the Bourgogne AOC, planted on clay-limestone soils that provide freshness and fine mineral tension. The continental climate favours slow ripening, allowing the BurgundyPinot Noir to develop defined aromas and great finesse. The aim here is not excessive power, but transparency, harmony and regional typicity.
Winemaking
At Joseph Drouhin Laforêt Bourgogne Pinot Noir, the winemaking process follows strict house specifications, working with grapes and musts from selected partner winegrowers. The grapes are harvested by hand in perforated boxes, with possible additional selection. Total destemming and maceration with fermentation for 1 to 2 weeks, using indigenous or selected yeasts depending on the vintage, and vertical or pneumatic pressing for precise extraction.
Ageing lasts between 10 and 14 months in French oak barrels, with 15-20% new wood. Each decision is based on tastings and technical analysis, always prioritising the expression of the terroir and the character of the vintage.
Taste
On the nose, Joseph Drouhin Laforêt Bourgogne Pinot Noir displays clean notes of red cherry, raspberry and redcurrant, accompanied by subtle hints of undergrowth and damp earth. A delicate spicy nuance evokes white pepper and a light floral touch.
The palate is silky on the attack, but supported by a lively acidity that adds energy and length. The red fruit reappears juicy, backed by fine, polished tannins that structure the whole without adding weight. The finish is fresh, persistent and delicately mineral. A classic Burgundian wine, ideal for those seeking finesse, balance and the authentic expression of French Pinot Noir.
