Description
Mas Coutelou Macabeu is a white wine produced in the South of France by the winegrower and winemaker Jeff Coutelou.
The result after the winemaking process is a fresh and aromatic wine, with notes of citrus and white flowers, and a vibrant and balanced flavour.
Mas Coutelou Macabeu is an excellent example of Coutelou's philosophy of producing natural, authentic wines that reflect the terroir and personality of the vineyard.
Winemaking
The winemaking process for Mas Coutelou Macabeu begins with the selection of sustainably grown Macabeu grapes from Jeff Coutelou's vineyards.
Once the grapes have been harvested and selected by hand, they are gently pressed to extract the must.
The must is then fermented with indigenous yeasts in French oak barrels without the addition of sulphur, allowing for a spontaneous and natural fermentation.
After fermentation, the wine is kept on its fine lees for 6 months in the same oak barrels, which gives it complexity and texture.
Finally, the wine is bottled without filtering or fining, preserving its authentic and natural character.
