Description
The Mas Cotelou Matabu wine is produced by the Mas Coutelou winery, which has been certified as one of the leading producers of natural wines since 1987.
The winemaker, Jeff Coutelou, comes from a family with great experience in winemaking and for years, he himself has made every effort to recover the vineyards of the winery, and has even created a small nursery with native grapes from the south of France.
Winemaking
Mas Cotelou Matabu is an elegant red wine, made from Cariñena, Syrah and Garnacha Tinta grapes, grown in vineyards with calcareous and clay soils, which have a strong influence of the Mediterranean climate, which are treated in a traditional way, with maximum respect for the land and avoiding the use of harmful chemicals.
The Carignan and Grenache bunches are fermented whole with indigenous yeast, while the Syrah grapes are pressed before racking in tanks. They are then aged for several months in concrete and fibreglass tanks.
Taste
The organic red wine Mas Cotelou Matabu is quite juicy, with subtle tannins, intense fruit flavour and hints of spices. It is a ruby red wine, balanced and elegant, with sharp acidity and somewhat complex. It is a young, medium-bodied wine with a long, lingering finish.
