Description

Famille Vincent Bourgogne Chardonnay was created as a tribute to the family and a celebration of the terroir. “JJ” is the nickname of Jean-Jacques Vincent, a legendary figure at Château Fuissé, and also the guiding force that inspired the new generation to produce an “entry-level” white wine without compromising on quality in the slightest. The idea is as simple as it is bold: to make an honest, unadorned Bourgogne Chardonnay that speaks with the accent of southern Burgundy, where the Chardonnay enjoys more sunshine and a more pronounced ripeness, yet still exudes limestone and tradition. The family, linked to Fuissé since 1862, works these plots with meticulous viticulture—hand-harvesting, decisions sensitive to the environment—to preserve what matters most: the identity of the terroir and the natural tension of the grape variety.

Production

The grapes arrive seeking purity: in Famille Vincent Bourgogne Chardonnay, pressing is gentle and the winemaking is designed to keep the fruit fresh. Fermentation and ageing are carefully balanced: most of the wine is aged in stainless steel to preserve its vigour and clarity; the rest rests for around six months in oak barrels, not to impart aroma, but to refine the texture, round out the mouthfeel and add that subtle hint of fine bakery. After blending, the wine is refined and bottled with balance in mind, without excess richness or oak.

Taste

In the glass, Famille Vincent Bourgogne Chardonnay appears pale yellow and brilliant. The nose starts off restrained, with a Burgogne profile: green apple and pear, zesty citrus (lemon), and a very measured creamy hint, like soft brioche and a barely whispered vanilla. On the palate, it enters with vigour: a meaty texture, yet light, supported by an acidity that cleanses and stretches the wine like a taut string. The fruit never shouts; the sensation of cold stone and damp chalk takes the lead, with a salty note that stimulates the salivary glands and calls for food. The finish is persistent and fresh, with that rare blend of comfort and edge: a Chardonnay that seeks to impress not through volume, but through precision, and which is as easy to drink as it is to remember.
