Description
Barranco Oscuro V de Valenzuela is a natural white wine produced by the Barranco Oscuro winery, located in La Contraviesa, Granada. This wine is made exclusively from the Vigiriega grape variety, planted in 1983 and 1991 in vineyards located between 1280 and 1368 metres above sea level. The soil conditions, composed of schist and clay, and the organic cultivation without certification, contribute to the uniqueness of the wine.
Winemaking
The elaboration of Barranco Oscuro V de Valenzuela includes a direct pressing of the destemmed grapes and a spontaneous fermentation in stainless steel tanks without temperature control. The wine is aged for one year in used oak barrels, without fining and with a light filtration before bottling. It is a wine without additives, which highlights its natural and authentic character.
Taste
Barranco Oscuro V de Valenzuela stands out for its fresh and acid taste. This white wine has fruity notes reminiscent of green apple and citrus, along with herbal nuances that vary according to the grape's degree of ripeness. Its high acidity, a highly valued attribute in natural wines, is the result of the growing conditions and the altitude of the vineyards, which allow the grapes to ripen slowly and in a balanced way. Acidity not only brings freshness to the wine, but also ensures its preservation by inhibiting the proliferation of micro-organisms and stabilises its colour and aroma. The presence of lees, far from being a defect, is a proof of its natural elaboration process and the absence of clarifying agents and aggressive filtering.
Barranco Oscuro V de Valenzuela is ideal for pairing with charcuterie, fish and seafood. Its freshness and complexity make it a delight for the senses, perfectly reflecting the terroir of the Alpujarra of Granada and the minimalist and nature-friendly approach of the Barranco Oscuro winery.
