The Amós Bañeres winery is located in La Bleda, Catalonia. This wine project was started in 2011 by Amós Bañeres, an individual with a unique and fascinating background. After studying medicine for five years and working as a pharmacist for seven, Amós decided to seek a significant change in his life. Together with his wife and children, he embarked on a year-long sailing trip to Greece, an experience that led him to conclude that he wanted a life closer to nature.

On his return, Amos decided to study viticulture in Tarragona and eventually took over the few hectares of family vineyards. His experience in a large winery taught him what he did not want to do, but also inspired him to produce wines of high quality and honesty. The first Amós Bañeres wine was produced in 2011, with a limited production of two wines of 1,000 bottles each, coming from small plots of the same vineyard.

Vineyards

The Amós Bañeres vineyards cover 5.5 hectares with calcareous and sandy soils. Amós manages his vineyards organically and exclusively by hand, paying meticulous attention to every detail. He marks each vine before pruning to determine individual density and removes leaves that no longer provide photosynthetic value to the grapes. Production is limited to just 5,000 bottles a year, all made in a garage on his parents' farm, using completely manual and natural methods, with no additives at any point in the process.

The philosophy of Amós Bañeres focuses on creating wines that are an authentic reflection of their terroir and a pure expression of the grape. Amós Bañeres, with his background in pharmacy and medicine, applies an almost scientific approach to winemaking, but always with a deep respect for nature and winemaking traditions. His philosophy is based on the harmonious interaction between man and vine, seeking a sustainable balance that respects the ecosystem and promotes biodiversity.
The winery adopts biodynamic and organic practices, focusing on minimal intervention in both the vineyard and the winery. This approach is reflected in its use of plant cover and phytotherapy to maintain the health of the vineyard, as well as the avoidance of unnecessary additives and manipulations during vinification. Amós Bañeres believes in the importance of listening to and observing the vineyard, adapting to its needs and responding to its natural cycles.
Amós Bañeres wines are known for their purity, sincerity and a distinctive style that often includes a well-understood controlled oxidation.
